A dangerous affair
It is a dangerous affair to fall in love with someone, because we are essentially opening our heart to another; and they can hurt us or they can love us. We are never sure of the outcome, but yet we trust. We bring them into our lives hopping that they be part of it. Do we want them to leave and tear the fabric of the universe? No, but yet this is the risk we take because we love. If we don’t love we don’t live.

America's Finnest Product
What is it about our society that has produced the greatest breed of soldiers that history has ever known. The Spartans were fearless, but they were also cruel. The Romans were disciplined, but they were also greedy. The Samurai were mission oriented, but with a sadistic streak.
Lets take a look at our American Soldier. Which incidentally thirty percent of them are between twenty and twenty four years of age. [Enlisted and Civilian Men and Women by Age, 2002 pp.24 vol 59,No.4 Population Reference Bureau www.prb.org] Kids out of High school or College from Anywhere America.
Here is this formidable being, capable of destroying depots, buildings, fortifications, whole divisions of enemy troops; bring down tyrants in a single week. Opposing armies see our troops poised for battle and they shake in their boots, sapping their resolve to fight. The world hates us, but they envy our soldiers. They envy our capability to operate as an homogeneous unit with discipline and precision, like a well tuned engine, no matter what the conditions, the circumstances or the odds.
But scratch the surface of this machine, go inside this giant and you will find warm kind hearted people. Individuals that deep down in their soul are caring, kind, soft spoken, scared, patriotic fathers, mothers, aunts, uncles, grandpas, sons, daughters, brothers and the list goes on to include Democrats, Republican, Liberals, Conservatives, Pro-Life, Pro-Choice. From all walks of life and form every Cultural Heritage that exists in America. A true reflection of today's United States.
This same soldier that is capable of decimating a country's Army is the same one that the war refugees and even captured soldiers are happy to see when all their world has collapsed around them. The same Marines that fought like hell dogs in Falluhja are the same type of Marine that evacuated civilians out of Beirut and the refugees felt like home just because they had arrived. The same sailors that patrol the shipping channels to prevent interruptions in cargo operations are the same type of sailor that the Coast Guard sent to the gulf states after Katrina. The same National Guardsman that patrol Afghanistan and fought the Taliban are the same Guardsman that responded to all the natural disasters that struck Florida and the Mid-West.
To answer the question, in my opinion, America is good in it's core. The media and the different interest have corrupted the idea of America.
In the military you don't have this. There you are always reminded that there is a higher purpose than your own. Every day you are asked to sacrifice everything that you have for the greater good of the unit, your country and your family. The ideals of righteousness, compassion, excellence, and duty are constantly exercised. These are ideals and morals that were born out of this great experiment that we embarked on called America.
That is why our military, even though they are the envy of the rest of the world, is so great. And just to remind you, they can envy our military, but they can't have it; because every single one of them is serving because they chose to. Every one of them volunteered to give up their comfort and their freedom; jeopardize their safety by putting themselves in harms way so that you and I would not have to.
Next time you see a serviceman, remember that they are America's finest product and they embody our greatest contribution to the history of civilization.
